GLOSS GENIUS | Early-stage Startup Brand Voice
Danielle Cohen-Shohet co-founded the all-in-one software platform, GLOSS GENIUS, to help beauty professionals build loyalty, stay fully booked, and focus on analytics to grow their business—envisioning the platform as GLOSS, the owner’s right-hand.
Brand exploratory started with identifying the most important characteristics common to all great personal assistants. This helped us further identify Brand Traits, the Brand Persona (defined by three archetypes: Confidant, Administrator & Beauty Insider), and finally, those things the three archetypes would do and NOT do—which informed personal assistant, GLOSS’ voice (and all site copy).
Surveyed BETA users told us they wanted their assistant to be “the brains” so they could focus on “the beauty part”—which led to the tagline, “The Brains Behind Beauty.” While insights into what mattered to users most (i.e., being able to take Saturdays off was a key measure of success) allowed GLOSS to “speak” to them like a knowing confidant.
